Chain served on the Scientific Advisory Committee, and spoke on 'The Discovery of D(-) Penicillamine' (the full title was 'D-penicillamine: its discovery and chemical properties possibly relevant to its therapeutic use'). It was intended to edit and publish the proceedings, and a German version appeared, but delays occurred in the English publication
