Biographical note

The author notes that in 1583 the Faculty of Medicine comprised eight chairs, making it the largest after that of Civil Law. There were professors of the Theory of Medicine (2), Practice of Medicine (2), Botany (2), Surgery and Anatomy, whose teaching duties are outlined.
