Démonstrations élémentaires de Botanique, divisées en Classes, en Ordres et en Genres: avec les Caractères et les différences essentielles des Plantes, fondées sur le nombre des Cotyledons et l'insertion des Étamines. Probably a copy of the first edition, published at Lyons in 1766. Written by the same hand as MS. No. 2118 [Dictionnaire].

Biographical note

The author was appointed to the post of 'Conseiller de la Cour des Monnaies' at Lyons in 1749, but in 1763 he resigned to devote his life to the study of natural history in which he had always been interested. He became Secretary to the Académie of Lyons, and corresponded with Haller, Linnaeus and Jussieu. He had joined Rousseau in his botanical tour of 1768.
