Notes

Robert Long comes from Liverpool, but was originally born in London and brought up in Kent. He is the Centre Manager of the Salvation Army Hostel in St Helens. On the plinth he is going to demonstrate issues around homelessness and some of things they do to help. He has brought a cardboard wendy house which is representing the hostel in St Helens. From the wendy house he will be pulling out symbols to demonstrate how they help - around education, sport, anti-addiction. First he will take out a sleeping bag and curl up in it for 10 minutes, he will then crush alcohol cans. As football plays an important role at the hostel, he has brough along part of the football kit. There will also be items around education which relate to the homless in which they can be helped. He is dressed very casually and is wearing a t-shirt with the new salvation army plus logo on it.
