Phillips 1790-1794). Plus one small newspaper cutting from the Gentlemans Magazine, containing biographical details.

Biographical note
Thomas Arnold (1742-1816) M.D., F.R.C.P. was a eminent physician and mad-doctor of Leicester and owner of the lunatic asylum there. He was also a member of both London and Edinburgh colleges. Arnold's principal medical work is the two-volume Observations on the Nature, Kinds, Causes, and Prevention of Insanity, Lunacy, or Madness (1782, 1786). His work is characterised by his support for the 'moral' treatment of the insane.
