This was one of the lowest on record. The average over a period of 2b years is 28.62 inches. Housing. No great difficulty has been experienced in having any required repairs to dwellings executed. Premises where food is prepared or stored. In one case where the washing facilities were not adequate these were provided without delay on the serving of a*notice. Meat, 4 The two slaughterhouses used by the Ministry of Food are inspected regularly and carcases found to be defective are disposed of as necessary. The difficulties referred to in my last Annual Report still exist and it is probable that some such arrangement as then suggested ■.ill have to be considered.
