About this work

Description

The letters are divided into three categories, family, friends and business, and are arranged chronologically within these divisions.

Most of the family letters to A.R. Cook are from his mother, H.B. Cook, and his brother J. Howard Cook (Jack). There are also some from Katharine Cook to A.R. Cook whilst he was on safari. The letters from Jack contain many photographs. Nos D493-524 were found separately from the main series of family correspondence and have been listed accordingly. Correspondence from friends includes a large number of letters from Ellen Spong, a close friend and supporter of Katharine Cook.
