Description

Browne was Director of the Leprosy Study Centre between 1966 and 1980.

The Leprosy Research Fund (est. 1952 by Dr R G Cochrane when he returned from India) was officially renamed the Leprosy Study Centre in Summer 1965. It was to act as a 'Co-ordinating and Advisory Centre for Training and Research in Leprosy'. The head of the LSC was designated 'Director of Studies'. Browne was invited in Jan 1965, while still in Uzuakoli, to become Director of Studies. He eventually took up the post in Jan 1966. The Centre closed down in Jun 1980
