Description

Photomacrograph of a louse egg capsule attached to a single strand of hair. Lice belong to the order Phthiraptera which are a group of small wingless parasitic insects. Female lice lay eggs (nits) in sacs which firmly attach to individual strands of hair. Width of image is 0.8 mm.
