About this work

Description

On the results of the Select Committee in 1976 another Abortion Amendment Bill was introduced in 1977, this time by the Conservative MP for Buckingham; William Benyon. This Bill hoped to reduce the time limits women could procure an abortion to 20 weeks, and that the doctor who performed the abortion must inform the woman's GP after gaining her consent to do so.

NAC rallied a substantial campaign against the Bill, and it failed to pass after going through two readings in the House of Commons. The documents about this campaign contain: press cuttings, information on the demonstration on May 14th 1977, leaflets, and correspondence.
