Biographical note
The Wellcome Trust celebrated its 50th anniversary year from September 1986 to August 1987. The Trust marked the occasion with a programme of activities and events, including a soiree held in the Wellcome Building which was attended by HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh. Universities and scientific societies around the UK also hosted exhibitions and seminars to showcase the Trust's support for medical research.
