Half-length, a man with grey hair and beard holding a skull in his left hand. Wears ruff, red tunic decorated with black, green robe with fur lining. Same composition as a portrait of William Parys (this catalogue no. 582607i). Coat of arms of Barber-Surgeons' Company (awarded 1569) at top

John Pecke surgeon Master of the Companie of Barber Surgeons Ao. Dni. 1606 Label on verso: "John Pecke Appointed Govenor [sic] 15 Aug 15... Master in 1605. Again elected on death of W. Gale in 1610. In 1606 Founds [sic] of Company were low. Mr Pecke offered to loan 5̋0" (text adapted from Sidney Young, The annals of the barber-surgeons of London, London, 1890, p. 327)
