One of them is grander than the others. It could belong to a woman. It has two cemetery stones on which is written a sure in Arabic , and has some golden decoration such as figures and flowers. Whirling Mevlewi dervishes performing the sema. Their spinning represents the universe in which everything from atoms to the solar system and even the circulatory system of the body turn. Their hands (right hand facing upwards and left hand facing downwards) represent that they transfer what they take from God to the people without any appropriation. This is not a dance show, it is a sort of worship. Generally it is done on Monday and Thursday evenings in Mevlewi lodges. Image 13.2 x 18.9 cm.

Two Bashibazouks in their classic costumes and fully armed. Bashibazouks (Turkish başıbozuk, or delibaş, literally "damaged head", meaning free headed, leaderless, disorderly) were irregular soldiers of the Ottoman army. They were particularly noted for their lack of discipline. Image 19.1 x 13.5 cm.
