About this work

Description

Science and religion in the Western world are usually treated as belonging to different spheres. In Islamic culture, however, this is not the case. The teachings of the prophet Mohammed were to the effect that the material world must be understood through science. Ziauddin Sardar visits Al-Azhar University in Cairo where medicine, engineering and agriculture are all taught within a religious framework.
