    A.D. 1861, 15th Apuil. N° 925. Coating Pills. (This Invention received Provisional Protection only.) PROVISIONAL SPECIFICATION left by Robert Charles Furley at the Office of the Commissioners of Patents, with his Petition, on the 15th April 1861. I, Robert Charles Furley, of Edinburgh, in the County of Mid Lothian, 5 do hereby declare the nature of the said Invention for “ Rendering Pills Tasteless by Means op a Coating of Albumen,” to be as follows:— The pills, after being made in the usual way are covered or to be covered by albumen (the substance above-mentioned), which substance is found in all animal matter, although not always in such a condition as, without a process 10 of extraction or preparation, to be capable of being used as the applicant has been using it, in the coating of pills. More particularly the Petitioner has i)een using the said albumen as it is found and appears in the white of an egg; but his diffinition or Specification is to be understood as including all matters whatever in which albumen may be found.
