About this work

Description

This is a public information video about the work of the Genetics Clinic, University of California. As genetic testing techniques continue to improve, we are soon all going to be faced with the question of how much we really want to know about the genetic inheritance we carry. For some, the knowledge can prove helpfull, such as the patient who carries a gene which means she has very high colestrol levels. Because of this knowledge, the patient can takes steps to minimise the risks. For others, such as the patient who now knows that she carries the gene that causes Huntington Disease, for which there is no cure, the knowldge can be a burden. The film also explains DNA, using animated graphics.
