Biographical note
Eduard Desor [1811-1882], eminent Swiss geologist, was a pupil and later secretary to Agassiz in 1837, and became 'Geographer of the Congress' in the U.S.A. He left for Europe in 1852 and in 1859 was professor of geology at Geneva, and wrote extensively on Alpine geology.
