Project Summary:This application seeks support for the final development, rehearsals, production and touring of 'Autobiographer' by Melanie Wilson. 'Autobiographer' is a sound installation with performance that combines the highly crafted textures of four amplified voices with a richly detailed soundtrack. Underpinning this sound work is a first-hand investigation into the condition of dementia, illustrated by the fracturing of a central voice: the character of Flora. As dementia takes hold, the divergent trains of Flora's voice and identity are taken up and represented by the chorus. Combining strands of sound art, performance, theatre and new writing, 'Autobiographer' places its audience directly in the midst of the unravelling mind of its central character, whose identity is gradually atomized by the effects of dementia. The project is produced by Fuel.
