About this work

Description

"Welcome to the summer issue of Pride Life and our annual definitive guide to all the Pride events in the UK and beyond. With all the progress we have made in the UK over the past ten years or so in terms of winning equality some people might argue that there's no longer any need for a Pride march or celebration. But tell that to people subject to homophobic bullying at school or in the workplace, or the disproportionately high number of LGBT people committing suicide, not to mention people in those countries where being gay is illegal. As gay rights group Stonewall mentions in this issue, there is still an awful lot to do before we achieve true social equality and are accepted for who we are. So while you're enjoying the Pride events and celebrations, whether at one of the mega-bashes in the big cities, or the smaller, more intimate events around the country, don't forget the politics of Pride as well as the party. It's your Pride and it's your life."--From page 005.
