About this work

Description

Black and white photograph of a man aged 44 years. There is considerable oedema of the face and upper half of the body, due to obstruction of the superior vena cava and the innominate veins, caused by an aneurysm of the arch of the aorta. After death it was seen that the superior vena cava lay practically in the wall of the aneurysm and was thus obstructed.
