(nos.2-4), including 2 to the geographer Sir Clements Robert Markham (1830-1916) of which 1 discusses the need for accurate oceanographical observations and mentions the explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton (1874-1922) and the geographer Sir John Scott Keltie (1840-1927) (no.3), and 1 (incomplete) discusses certain theories about human migration and the likelihood of their author meeting Otto Sverdrup (1855-1930) in the Arctic (no.4); 1 reproduction of a sketch-map drawn by Nansen on his return to Norway in 1896, showing the track of the Fram and Nansen's attempt to reach the Pole, n.d. (no.5).
