Please note that the archive contains personal data that is potentially highly sensitive in nature, including records of a GMC case, 2003, private practice patient files and case notes, and practice correspondence, incl domicilary visits, 1979-1990. When the archive is catalogued, sensitive personal data will require closure in accordance with the 1998 Data Protection Act (for example, patient records would be closed for the lifetime of the data subjects). Until the dates of the patient material in the archive have been confirmed it is impossible to say for how long such material would be closed, but based on the date span 1979-1990, we anticipate that it will not be possible to make patient records from the archive available for research before approximately 2064 at the earliest. For fuller information on how the library handles sensitive archival data, see our Access to Archives policy.
