About this work

Description

Model of a complex between CDK2 and staurosporine, a microbial alkaloid which inhibits a wide range of protein kinases. CDKs (cyclin-dependent kinases) are involved in regulation of the cell cycle. They are thus important targets for therapeutic intervention in cell division. Knowledge of this structure may help in the design of more selective CDK inhibitors (often lead compounds) that might function as drugs. Biomedical Image Awards 1998.
