Description

In the centre, the Medicine Buddha, Bhaishajyaguru (Bhaiṣajyaguru, Manla), with his right hand in the earth-touching position. His left hand, in a meditation gesture, holds a bowl containing myrobalan fruit (a species of plum considered to have medicinal properties). Along the top, seven different figures of the Medicine Buddha; below them, sixteen Bodhisattvas, four kings of the universe and other figures. Pictures of this type are used in temples, monasteries and houses to help in overcoming illness
