Description
These files comprise the President's or Secretary's correspondence with each other, Association of District Community Physician members, the DHSS (particularly the Chief Medical Officer) and other organisations such as the BMA, as well as some reports, Government documents and other papers. A number of files contain photocopies rather than originals. They relate mainly to the Association of District Community Physician's official responses to Government documents and views expressed by members on DHSS and Local Health Authority policies particularly with regard to the role of the District Community Physician. Members often wrote to the Association about issues raised in circulars received by their local health department or during the course of their work and these were usually discussed at Executive Committee meetings. Files D.1, 2, 4, 25, 31 and 40 relate to the organisation, role and future of the Association of District Community Physician.
