This dispensary for venereal diseases (not the same as the Misericordia Hospital founded in 1774) was founded in 1779 and was at George Street, Hanover Square in 1780 and Thanet Place, Strand in 1783 (see Medical Register, 1780, 1783). The "Dr. Wood" to whom patients are invited to apply was Loftus Wood, who moved to Colchester in 1783 (Medical Register, 1783, addenda), at which time the dispensary appears to have closed.
