Pseudo-Solomon

Cingulum Salamonis cuius mensura secundum longitudinem Christi desumpta est. The text is on one side of the scroll, the other side contains pen-drawings in red and black of the various sigils, etc. Below the title given above the text begins: 'Quod cingulum Leo Pontifex in charta pergamena virginea cum rubra † cruce et S. Thomas Aquinas cum aurea † cruce scriptum habuit et illud quotidie per [leg]it et pater Avicenna [?] pro symbolo Artium venerari consuevere et per illud uterque res magnas operatus est et omnia ad felicem finem perduxit ...' The statement then proceeds to enumerate the powers and virtues conferred on the owner of the scroll providing he is in a State of Grace and uses it for right purposes. These include the invocation of Spirits, and preservation from all evils spiritual and temporal. If used as a girdle in child-birth the wearer 'nunquam infeliciter pariet'.
