Notes

John Emmett lives near Leighton Buzzard. Two members of his family had been missionaries abroad - a grandfather in (what was then) Peking and an uncle in Burundi (Rwanda) and he also has a passion for travelling, so he gets itchy feet if he's back here for too long. He drew the parallel himself between what he does and his forebears. He works selling electrical engineering instruments. Has travelled quite extensively and said that Singapore and Malaysia he particularly liked. On the plinth he is going to sit there and put on a different hat on every 12 minutes (has 8 hats).
