Description
Histopathology of the heart
This is a high power view of an autopsy section of the heart from a patient with falciparum malaria. The myocardial fibres are separated by dilated capillaries which contain abundant parasitized red blood cells. There is also a mild chronic inflammatory infiltrate. H&E stain.
