There has been little change in the social conditions of the Borough during the year and the Borough remains a reception area. At tho end of the,year 70 persons were officially billeted in the town. VITAL STATISTICS. The BIRTHRATE is 16.62 per 1,000 of the population, as compared with 11.64 for the previous year, 15.8 for England and Hales and 15.70 and 16.76 for the Urban and Rural Districts of West Sussex. The illegitimate live births numbered 5 as compared with 3 for the previous j?car. No stillbirths were registered during the year. The DEATH RATE is 13.56 per 1,000 of tire population, as compared with 17.26 for the previous year, 11.6 for England and Wales and 16.50 and 12,7 6 for tho Urban and Rural Districts of West Sussex.
