Dr Steve Jones, Professor of Genetics at University College London, looks at the issue of ẁho pays for science'. Last week the first Science White Paper for 20 years was announced by William Waldegrave, Minister for Responsibility for Science. Dr Jones believs that the paper has not really tackled the fundamental problems of scientific research in this country. He interviews William Waldegrave and talks to scientists, both here and abroad to get their views on the future of scientific research.
