    About this work

    Description

Digital pictures created by Beales for his series "A Rake's Progress" charting the journey of "the rake" from first taking heroin to jumping into the river with his girlfriend. It was one of three series of pictures produced by Beales to show the problems caused by the closure of care in the community support resources such as occupational therapy and day centres. There are also digital images of some of the preparatory drawings.

Original preparatory drawings for most of the pictures are in PP/DBL/A/3/19. Early sketches and ideas are in PP/DBL/A/4/1, PP/DBL/A/4/2, PP/DBL/A/4/8, PP/DBL/A/4/16, PP/DBL/A/4/18, PP/DBL/A/5/10, PP/DBL/A/5/19 and PP/DBL/A/5/21. Other related material is in PP/DBL/B/10 and PP/DBL/B/12.
