Description

26 April, 1939. Signed copy letter, W E O Walker-Leigh to M H McDougall, Cooper & Nephews S Africa (Pty) Ltd, referring to proposals to re-organise Head Office and offering McDougall, subject to South African Company release, "Direction and Management of the Home Sales Branch". With McDougall's reply by cable (stamped 14 May). A copy of Walker-Leigh's letter was sent to Douglas McDougall, who, it was proposed to suggest to the South African Company, should be considered as his brother's successor in South Africa.

17 May, 1939. Michael H McDougall to Walker-Leigh, in response to letter of 26 April, offering a "preliminary reply". Prepared to consider Walker-Leigh's proposal, but much to consider before coming to a conclusion. Letter has some comments in pencil at the margins.

Cable stamped 25 May, 1939. "Thanks cable arriving England ninth June returning sixteenth McDougall".

26 May, 1939. Michael H McDougall to Walker-Leigh, confirmimg travel plans conveyed in cable.

9 June, 1939. Draft Memorandum (marked "Abandoned") outlining the responsibilities of the post proposed to be offered to Michael H McDougall.

17 June, 1939. Draft Heads of Agreement concerning proposed "Home Trade Selling Company".

20 June, 1939. "Penultimate Draft" and "Final" Draft of Heads of Agreement concerning proposed "Home Trade Selling Company".

23-29 June, 1939. Correspondence (4 letters) between J A Hill and Sir Ernest Roney referring to the formation of the "Home Trade Selling Company".
