    Enclosure in Gold Coast, No. 248 of 14th May, 1906. MEDICAL AND SANITARY REPORT FOR THE YEAR 1905. 1.—GENERAL REMARKS. The general health has been very good throughout the year. There was a slight increase of cases of dysentery, and a reduction in those of malaria; on the whole the general health showed a slight improvement. The rainfall in some parts was the lowest recorded for several years, and in places this was very severely felt. 2.—HEALTH OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITY. How employed. Number. Deaths. Invalided. The very dry season was no doubt to some extent the cause of this. 3.—NATIVE POPULATION. \ The health of the native population was also very good ; there were no epidemics. The principal diseases treated were malarial fevers, dysentery, diseases of the skin, diseases of the respiratory organs and intestines, ulcers, yaws, &c. Small-pox was not prevalent, and a good deal of vaccination was carried out. 4.—METEOROLOGICAL REPORT. Meteorological observations were taken at the following stations :—Accra, Aburi, Axim, Cape Coast, Sekondi, Kwitta, Kumasi and Gambaga, and the returns are appended. [143433] 2
