Notes

Christine Telford comes from Morpeth in Northumberland. She is a geologist and works in the oil industry and talks of her position of being a woman in her work. On the plinth she will be talking about her "Angels of the North" who are three women of history and from the North East who have influenced her in life, e.g. Emily Wilding Davison, a suffragette who died when trampled by a horse, Grace Darling, a lady who rescued people at sea in the North East, and Josephine Butler who was involved in the repeal of the Contagious Diseases Acts. She will be wearing an angel dress, angel wings, t-shirts which says "angels of the north", banners with the names of the women.
