Description

"Able Zine is a publication and creative agency based in London, UK. Able works with creative collaborators around the world, to share voices from and lend visibility to the disabled community. Able Zine seeks to increase representation for disabled, neurodivergent and chronically ill creatives and communities, online and offline. Our aim is to tackle ableism and discrimination through vivid, informative content and provide opportunities for those who may have previously been marginalised or excluded from creative and cultural spaces. We hope to offer a safe space to submit, learn and explore, without policing and gatekeeping (i.e the intimidating stuff that makes talking and learning about this stuff sometimes difficult.) We want to change the image of disability, to reflect the radical, diverse and multi-dimensional community we are."--From publisher's website. https://www.ablezine.com/about

156 pages of content, images and interviews with amazing individuals living with various diagnoses ranging from Cancer and Cystic Fibrosis to EDS, Epidermolysis Bullosa and Endometriosis. Able contains original content on topics such as health, mobility, invisible disability, chronic illness and mental health- stigmatised topics mainstream media doesn't regularly engage with. We also have features with a few big names such as Ericka Hart, Zebedee Model Management, Hanecdote, HTML Flowers, comedian Rosie Jones and more!
