    P R E F A C E. It lias been my object in the following pages to pre- sent a systematic and condensed view of the particular branch of pathology of which they treat. In pursuit of this end, I have not only drawn from the stores of my own experience, but have freely used whatever addi- tional information has recently been given to the public, under the name or with the sanction of the highest au- thorities on cutaneous diseases, whether of this coun- try or the continent.
