About this work

Description

Lettering refers to "asperae quaedam ... excrescentiae, rotundis veluti corniculis instructae, quibus in medicina ad pulmonum morbos utuntur" (parts of the tree which they use in medicine for diseases of the lungs). These are shown in the drawing. The lettering gives the name of the tree as "Marmelade dooses boom", "Marmelade doos" and "Marmelata pigris". The tree could be Achras mammosa or Lucuma mammosa
