About this work

Description

This documentary looks at malaria in Papua New Guinea and explains how important education and effective medical care at local health centres are to avoid unwanted deaths. Preventative measures such as the use of insecticide coated bed nets and mosquito coils are shown. Villagers are seen putting these measures into action. How the mosquito passes on malaria is covered in depth. An epidemiological approach to counteracting malaria is encouraged and researchers are documented as they work to this end. Slum areas are known to be particularly bad areas for malaria infection and this documentary asks the viewer to consider a comparison of these with our modern Western world's medical knowledge and technological development.
