About this work

Description

Dr. Mark Porter and his studio guest, Professor Colin Drummond, discuss alcohol consumption and its effects on our bodies and brains. The programme also lays to rest certain myths about alcohol such as that hangovers are caused by dehydration, drinking through a straw makes alcohol more potent and that beer is more fattening than wine. We also hear the story of 'Hugh' a reformed alcoholic, and there is a discussion about what the Labour government has done to reduce the costs on the health system and work place from alcohol related problems.
