About this work

Description

Watercolour drawing of a leg with large circular ulcers, which have the appearance of broken-down gummata. Under the action of iodide of potassium, given internally, and the local application of lotio nigra, the ulcers rapidly healed. They were therefore regarded as syphilitic in origin.
