Joanne Rawlings comes from Shropshire. She works as a teaching assistant at a secondary school working with pupils with special needs and learning difficulties. She is a single mother of three and it is her children who inspired her to get into the teaching field. Out of work her children are the most important thing to her, as is her job and her main hobby is running. She has run various half marathons and is training for her first full marathon next February in Brighton. On the plinth she will be dressed in a penguin costume and she will be playing charades as well as throwing sweets down in balloons. Her family are here as well and will be giving out sweets to winners of the charades. She is very nervous about going up and says it is very much out of her comfort zone.
