Includes photographs of Haldane as a child and as a young man; a photograph of Haldane and his sister, Naomi Mitchison; a photograph of Haldane with A L Hagedoorn, O L Mohr, Bonnier and C D Darlington; photographs of Haldane teaching in India; a portrait photo of Haldane taken for the Evening Standard; photographs of Haldane inspecting equipment in his lab at Harpenden taken by Time & Life; a photograph of Haldane boarding an Air India International plane; and a photograph of Haldane with Helen Spurway taken at Wroclaw airfield by Henry Makower.

Also includes negatives of some of the photos listed above.

Acquisition note

Some photographs in this file have been removed from the main series of Haldane papers. A number have been stamped 'Time & Life Ltd' and were possibly part of a series of photographs referred to in Haldane's correspondence with Time and Life (see HALDANE/5/5/1/1). Photographs of Haldane as a child were presented to UCL Library by Professor F N David in 1967.
