Description
A general overview of medical practices during the Americal Civil War, where of the nearly 620, 000 soldiers who died, two-thirds died not of bullets and bayonets, but of disease. This video explores many aspects of Civil War medicine including: medical education, recruiting, camp sanitation, diet, pharmaceuticals, battlefield medicine, the evacuation of the wounded, amputation and surgery, burial of the dead, the pavilion style hospitals, and the surgeons and nurses.
