About this work

Description

Traces the two-year struggle of Margaret Best (Cork) to win compensation from the Wellcome Foundation for the brain damage suffered by her son, Kenneth, after he received Trivax, the Wellcome triple whooping cough vaccine, in 1969. Mrs. Best succeeded in her claim as a result of evidence by Prof. Peter Behan (Glasgow University) and was awarded damages for negligence by an Irish court. This is the first time that a manufacturer has been successfully prosecuted for not providing a safe and proper vaccine. The programme also examines the claims of other families who believe that the deaths of their children are attributable to this vaccine. In the course of its investigations Q.E.D. provides a detailed account of the vaccine testing procedure relating to these cases.
