About this work

Description

The iconography is very similar to that of another painting in the same album, with legend "Beema", identified as "Bhima, one of the five Pandava brothers in the Indian epic, Mahabharata" (Wellcome Library no. 581792i). Here the legend is different: it is written indistinctly, but may be something like "Guntaguram". Until this name has been identified and validated, the present painting is provisionally catalogued as being also a representation of Bhima
