About this work

Description

Glass magic lantern slides.

Individual slides have titles on them, mainly re insects and insecticides, particularly re fruit flies, cattle ticks and sheep ticks.

Publication/Creation

Late 19th century

Physical description

4 o/s boxes, containing 42 slides boxes [510 slides]

Arrangement

Originally housed in wooden drawers. Out of the original 12 drawers, one was missing completely and one (labelled "Annelida") was empty. The original order of the slides within the drawers has been retained and the slides listed under the label given on the drawer. 2 drawers were not labelled and a third, "Insect & Crops", had apparently been labelled at a later date. 4 loose labels were found: "Myriapoda", "Eriphyidae", "Crustacea", and "Plectoptera, Odonata". These may refer to the contents of these three drawers and the missing drawer. However they could not be matched up at the time of cataloguing and so a temporary title has been given in the catalogue.
