About this work

Description

The surgeon holds possibly a plaster or a piece of skull in his right hand and a surgical instrument in his left. Shaving bowls and a string of extracted teeth are displayed in the shop window. Unlike the other men, the surgeon wears a ruff and a skullcap. The buildings outside are of Italian appearance
