Description

Black and white photograph of Marlene Dietrich, a German American actress and singer, wearing a white suit, hat and patterned bowtie seated holding a cigarette. Dietrich participated in the gay and drag scene in 1920s Berlin, and was bisexual, having had relationships with the cabaret hostess Suzanne Baulé, writer Mercedes de Acosta, and rumoured relationships with Edith Piaf, Ann Warner, Lili Damita, Claudette Colbert, and Dolores del Rio. She was also known for her androgynous appearance in her film roles, often appearing in masculine clothing.
