About this work

Description

Notes and calculations (holograph, dated July, 1959) with the title "Szilard's Theory of Aging".

The file includes a letter (5 September, 1959) from Leo Szilard to Crick, enclosing, in typescript, two letters to the editor which are shortly to be published simultaneously in Nature, 184: 4691 (1959), 956-8, from J Maynard Smith and Leo Szilard.

Szilard's covering letter to Crick notes: "I plan to call you on the telephone in order to see whether I was able to overcome the difficulty which you had with my paper."

A reprinted copy of the paper in question - Szilard, "On the nature of the aging process," Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 45: 1 (1959), 30-45 - is included in the file (with corrections in Szilard's hand).
